DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — The Bear continued to show it supremacy on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange equity markets after the equity market capitalization went down about TZS 110 billion (about US$51 million) to end at TZS 21,763 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 21,784 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Still in negative sentiment, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) slumped by 12.66 points or 0.51 percent to end at 2,474.63 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index fell by 11.32 points or 0.24 percent to close at 4,642.32 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index added 0.86 percent or 25.72 points to settle at 3,009.23 points. Industrial & Allied sector index decreased by 0.62 percent or 38.84 points to close at 6,270.26 points but Commercial services sector index remained steady to end at 4,016.04.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 1,167.22 million from 493,591 shares traded in 80 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 69.62 million from 89,830 shares traded in 46 deals. CRDB had 337,840 shares traded in 31 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 3,034 shares in 4 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 300 shares in 9 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 33,537 shares traded in 15 deals. Swissport Tanzania Limited traded 110,810 shares in 10 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with four gainers and five losers. National Microfinance Bank emerged as the top gainers after adding 1.40 percent with a closing price of TZS 2,900 and Acacia Mining Limited grew by 1.27 percent to settle at TZS 7,990. Jubilee Holdings Limited ended at TZS 10.260 after adding 1.08 percent.
On the losers’ table, KCB Group sagged by 2.15 percent at TZS 910.00, National Media Group plummeted by 1.81 percent to trade at TZS 3,250, East Africa Breweries tumbled by 1.42 percent to end at TZS 5,540 and Tanzania Breweries Limited closed at TZS 15,100 after a reduction of 1.05 percent. After falling by 0.53 percent Tanzania Portland Cement Company share price close at TZS 3,780.
